A further joke was made with the talisman worn on her dress being additional protections put in place to keep her safe from viruses. The joke thus is that Patchouli was patched.

That is not always a bad thing. (It's also a bit of a double standard since they never seem to have anything but praise for Madden 5,031,628, but that's an entirely different rant.) The classics never die, and it's always interesting to see them in new generations. Case in point, I am extremely excited about Kid Icarus : Uprising.
