Luigi's Friction Problem

I've always preferred playing as Luigi to Mario. Case in point, while playing Super Mario Galaxy 2, as soon as the option to actually permanently switch to Luigi became available, I did so. But there is always that traction problem of his... I'm quite convinced he butters his shoes.
